HANOI – On April 22nd, the Asia’s Regional Response to Endangered Species Trafficking Program partner, Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV), hosted Vietnam’s first national awards ceremony to honor five excellent individuals for their outstanding contributions to wildlife protection.  The Outstanding Service in Wildlife Protection Awards Ceremony recognized three law enforcement officials and two journalists for their efforts and commitment in curbing illegal wildlife trafficking.  Award recipients were selected from more than 60 nominations by a panel of judges with representatives from the U.S. Embassy, ENV, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, People and Nature Reconciliation, TRAFFIC and the Wildlife Conservation Society.  The inspiring event, made possible by the USAID-funded (ARREST) program, was well attended by government officials from Vietnam, United States, and Sweden, the media and many local and international conservation organizations and research institutions.
