At Thailand’s first Climate Change Adaptation Expo held in Bangkok, USAID’s Regional Environment Office (REO) received the “Friend of Thailand’s Climate” award. The three-day ‘Thailand Climate Change Adaptation’ Expo, held during September 26-28, was organized by the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) in order to build awareness of climate change adaptation.
Approximately 30 participating organizations showcased their climate adaptation initiatives and best practices. USAID exhibited three its climate adaptation programs: Climate Change Adaptation Project Preparation Facility for Asia and the Pacific (ADAPT Asia-Pacific); Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change (Mekong ARCC); and Mekong – Building Climate Resilience in Asian Cities (Mekong-BRACE).
Nearly 400 people visited the Expo during the three-day exhibition. USAID's Regional Environment Office Director, Alfred Nakatsuma, represented the Agency at the awarding ceremony, receiving a trophy from Thailand’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Vichet Kasemthongsri.
