Cambodia will host the 5th meeting of regional working group of Lower Mekong Initiative to be held from 6-7 Nov in Siem Reap province, the media release said.

The meeting will focus on agriculture, food safety, education, energy safety, and environment and water resource and health issues and other related issues.

The meeting will be chaired by Mr. Sok Siphanna, a senior advisor to the government and U.S. ambassador to ASEAN, Mr. David Carden.

The Lower Mekong countries composed of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar.  The Lower Mekong Initiative Regional Working Group is the technical meeting for delegations to refine Pillar strategic priorities and current programs and projects.  It is also an opportunity to discuss cross-cutting themes such as gender issues, and propose changes to the LMI Plan of Action.  Government officials from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States will participate in this two-day meeting.
