On October 7, 2014, in Thanh Hoa City, Vietnam, representatives from the USAID Vietnam Forests and Deltas program and the regional USAID Low Emissions Asian Development program signed a memorandum of understanding with the newly established Green Growth Task Force of Thanh Hoa Province that details USAID support for designing and implementing a green growth action plan under the national Vietnam Green Growth Strategy.

Thanh Hoa is a rapidly growing province with one of the largest populations in the country and the program is seen as a key trial for demonstrating the economic, social and environmental benefits of a low-carbon, inclusive, sustainable approach to development. USAID played an integral role in helping create the 17-member task force that includes key officials from six government agencies and the Thanh Hoa Women’s Union.

Approximately 40 representatives from Vietnamese government agencies, the Vietnam Women’s Union, the USAID programs, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency participated in the signing ceremony.
