From December 17 to 19 in Thanh Hoa City, Vietnam, experts from the USAID Low Emissions Asian Development (USAID LEAD) and Vietnam Forests and Deltas programs provided training for 15 representatives from key provincial departments and academic institutions on the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP) system, a software tool for energy and climate change policy analysis.

The training will assist the Green Growth Task Force of Thanh Hoa Province and other stakeholders to model and analyze energy supply, energy demand and greenhouse gas emission trends to determine cost-effective greenhouse gas mitigation measures.

The LEAP training is one in a series of technical workshops provided by USAID in cooperation with the government of Thanh Hoa to assist the province in developing and implementing a provincial green growth action plan under the national Vietnam Green Growth Strategy.
