USAID’s Private Financing Advisory Network Asia (USAID PFAN-Asia) organized a training on clean energy project development and financing in Vientiane, Laos, from December 16 to 17.

The event attracted over 70 local project developers, investors and government officials. The United States Ambassador to Laos, Daniel A. Clune, delivered opening remarks followed by Laotian government officials.

Local project developers – representing more than 500 megawatts of clean energy projects in solar, wind, biomass and small hydropower – watched presentations from international experts on finance, regulation and the environment.

Participants also gained insights on how to successfully approach project financing from leading local and international financial institutions. Over the course of 2015, USAID PFAN-Asia hopes to mobilize $10 million of investment for clean energy projects in Laos.
