Mekong - U.S. Partnership
Participants from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam gathered in Bangkok from February 2 to 6 to test a role play training activity focused on the Low Emission Land Use Planning module of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forest (USAID LEAF) climate change curriculum.
Participants placed themselves in roles from communities and organizations, such as director of a government forestry administration, head of a community organization, deputy director of a private forestry company or senior policy advisor for a non-governmental organization. They then develop a mock low emissions land use plan based on the different priorities of each character in order to learn from and appreciate the views of that person and their position.
USAID LEAF collaborated with partners from the U.S. Forest Service and RECOFTC, the Center for People and Forests, to develop the role play and hold the training of trainers workshop.
