The USAID Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change (USAID Mekong ARCC) project surveyed climate change awareness among 290 women in rural communities in Thailand (Chiang Rai and Sakon Nakhon) and Vietnam (Kien Giang) before and after conducting climate change awareness raising activities.

Among the results were that 85 percent of women in target communities were aware of climate change, up from 39 percent before the implemented activities. The women also reported having increased understanding of climate change with 79 percent using weather information to inform livelihood decisions like when to plant or harvest.

USAID’s Mekong ARCC project works across 20 communities in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change in the Lower Mekong Basin and to increase community resilience to these impacts on their food security and livelihoods.
