USAID’s Private Financing Advisory Network-Asia (USAID PFAN-Asia) had an exhibit at the Investment Policies and Techniques for Renewable Energy Projects 2015 conference March 23 in Bangkok. The conference attracted nearly 1,000 participants, including senior-level industry executives, engineers, investors and government officials.
The event was co-organized by the Green Network Forum by the Technology Media Co. Ltd along with The Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Photovoltaic Industries Association. During the conference, speakers addressed challenges and lessons learned on investing in renewable energy sectors, with a particular focus on solar, waste-to-energy and biomass technologies.
USAID PFAN-Asia used the event to promote its services to attendees and entered preliminary discussions with Kasikorn Bank and solar rooftop companies on further supporting the residential solar market in Thailand. USAID PFAN-Asia plans to organize a solar rooftop leasing workshop in May, gathering relevant parties (such as solar developers, banks and other financial partners) to exchange ideas on the development of a leasing program for this sector — a value estimated at $250 to 300 million.
