Mekong - U.S. Partnership
The need to better understand groundwater conditions and monitoring in the Lower Mekong River Basin provided the motivation for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Mekong River Commission (MRC) Information Knowledge and Management Programme (IKMP) to conduct a cooperative study to review and compile groundwater information and propose a preliminary action plan for future monitoring.
Objectives
- To summarize current understanding of the conditions and monitoring of the regional groundwater system in the Lower Mekong Basin;
- To compile data and information from historical and current groundwater monitoring and assessment studies;
- To propose a preliminary action plan and strategy for future MRC groundwater monitoring programs in cooperation with Line Agencies of the Member Countries.
