Vietnam National University, America’s WETLAND Foundation, Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Southern Institute for Water Resources Planning, Natural Heritage Institute, and the United States Department of the Interior, in cooperation with a diverse group of partners, hosted joint conferences with an overarching theme of Mekong River Basin sustainability in view of development and climate change. The jointly convened conferences were held in Ho Chi Minh City from May 19-26, 2013. By convening a unique gathering of global representatives from the many sectors and political circles that converge in watershed management, especially in the complex trans-boundary dynamics of the Mekong, this joint conference will help local and national leaders find solutions to some of the most acute challenges facing Vietnam and its delta, the broader Mekong River system, and major deltas and watersheds worldwide.
