The U.S. Agency for International Development Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) program released the “Gender Analysis of Lam Dong’s Provincial REDD+ Action Plan” this week.
Developed in collaboration with and the United Nations Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD), the report provides analysis of Lam Dong’s Provincial REDD+ Action Plan (PRAP) with a focus on shortcomings in empowering women and integrating gender into the plan.
The report highlights key national strategies and international regulations on gender equality and women’s empowerment related to REDD+ and their connection to the evolving Lam Dong PRAP. The report recommends adjustments that should be made to the Lam Dong PRAP to help ensure its consistency with Vietnam’s national plan and other governing documents.
The PRAP, one of the first of its kind in the region, has been developed with USAID LEAF support by the Government of Vietnam and will be officially launched in Vietnam on March 23. The report can be accessed here.
