The neglect of gender in the forestry-land use sector remains a serious limitation of institutions’ abilities to implement sustainable solutions. LEAF believes that leadership is critical to addressing prevalent gender-gaps in REDD+ and that there is a critical need to ensure that women and men take up the leadership roles as champions to promote the gender agenda in REDD+. Towards this end, the “Asia-Pacific Leadership Program on Gender and REDD+” aims to enhance the leadership of at least 20 women and 5 men across Asia-Pacific region.
Objectives:
-To develop among the participants an analytical awareness of gender dynamics and its impact in REDD+.
-To enhance participants’ leadership abilities and competencies to promote gender agenda in REDD+.
-To address the role of men as advocate and active supporters for transformations in gender relations in REDD+.
-To build a robust network of influential and inspirational gender and REDD+ leaders across the Asia-Pacific.
