The LMI Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) Initial Planning Conference (IPC) was held 27-29 January 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand.  There, planners from the United States, Thailand, International Government Organizations (IGOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) laid the foundation for a water management and disaster response exercise planned for 28-31 July.  Representatives reviewed the initial concept and developed a clear path forward on participant levels, agenda, themes, site visits, and much more.

The event was led by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Royal Thai Armed Forces, (RTARF) U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).  The goals and objectives of the event support the LMI Plan of Action and the Environment and Water Pillar's goal of understanding and mitigating the risks associated with water-related extreme events.
