Outbreak Detection and Response Workshop (TCTP)

Under the U.S.-Singapore Third Country Training Program (TCTP), the U.S. Department of State, the Defense Institute for Medical Operations (DIMO), the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and the Singapore Institute of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology will implement a workshop on Disease Outbreak
Detection and Response June 27 – July 1, 2016, in Singapore. The workshop will provide tools to determine and address outbreaks of diseases. This five-day course looks to further the goals of the International Health Regulations (IHR) by using infection surveillance to improve the ability to determine that an outbreak has occurred, and to then answer the question as to whether it originated as a natural event, an accident or an intentional event. The course will outline lessons learned from a number of contemporary outbreaks, including MERS, SARS, Ebola, Influenza, Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika Virus.
