Following the launch of the Mekong Water Data Initiative (MWDI) last August, the Department of State, Office of Conservation and Water in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs and the CEO of the Mekong River Commission co-hosted a one-day dialogue to discuss the need for improving national capacities for the collection, analysis, and application of water data and regional goals for water data sharing.   Emerging shared priorities include better integration of water data across government agencies, strengthening sustainable water management, and improving capacity for the use of real-time geospatial data for flood forecasting.
