The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) trains prosecutors and law enforcement officers through capacity building programs with the aim of combatting illegal wildlife trafficking. The DOJ's Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training has a Regional Resident Legal Advisor (RLA) for Counter Wildlife Trafficking, based in Vientiane, Laos. In February 2022, the U.S. Department of State and the DOJ's Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT) partnered with the Lao People's Supreme Court to conduct workshops on digital evidence for 104 judges in three regions across Laos.
