Managed in partnership with the USAID Regional Development Mission ASIA (USAID/RDMA), the Smart Infrastructure for the Mekong (SIM) is a government-to government technical assistance program that utilizes the science and engineering expertise of the U.S. Department of the Interior, International Technical Assistance Program to help MUSP countries safeguard the environment from the negative effects of infrastructure development.

SIM provides MUSP partner countries with rapid, demand-driven technical and scientific assistance to support climate smart, environmentally sound and socially equitable infrastructure, clean energy development, and natural resource use.

SIM also contributes to capacity building through professional workshops on a variety of water safety infrastructure topics. These workshops focus on region-specific ecology issues such as watershed degradation prevention, bank stability assessments, dam safety, and planning design of hydropower projects to help build stronger infrastructure amongst MUSP partners.
