Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Evan Ryan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Stevenson and Lower Mekong Initiative Lead Officer Matt Yarrington met with a group of 17 young political leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam at the start of their program at the U.S. Department of State on Thursday, March 6, 2014.

This is the first-ever ECA-funded American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) project featuring participants from all five LMI countries, and one of the largest exchanges ACYPL has conducted.  The participants represent different government agencies, political parties, and non-governmental organizations.  The group will be in DC before splitting up to Kansas and Utah, where they will be hosted by American politicians in state and local government offices for one-week fellowship assignments.
